Finding Fitness is more than burning calories and building muscle mass. My individualized training focusing on posture, form and technique by emphasizing proper execution of movements- how to perform the exercise correctly and why it is functional. I want clients to know which body parts are being engaged and which muscles are being targeted. Finally, how this exercise is a component to the program. Working closely with the client allows me to gain an understanding of a their body and movement pattern so as to build a fun and effective workout program. I personally enjoy moving all day and engaging with people one-on-one. I love working closely with my clients and helping them understand their body's and movement patterns. Every client has their own story and their own challenge and I love the journey.
I began working in gyms and health clubs as a personal fitness trainer. For the last several years I've been working as an at-home fitness training with focus on corrective and preventive exercise therapy, often working with physical therapists and OTs to continue rehabilitation and strength training with people with disabilities or recovering from injuries.
Over the last couple years I have worked with a clientele of primary older women, but enjoy training women of all ages. Several of my clients have been physically active and health conscious for most of their lives and sought training in conjunction with other activities. Other clients are looking to exercise for the first time, often encouraged by health care providers or prompted by a physical concern.
The first consultation is a chance to discuss your health and fitness background; physical condition; and short or long-term goals. A thorough background and fitness assessment is desirable to create a safe and effective training program that's tailored to your specific strengths and weaknesses/imbalances. We'll go over medical history and assess strength, balance, flexibility/ range of motion.
The first consultation/assessment is an important time to express any concerns, risks, likes and dislikes-- sometimes it takes a couple of sessions to hit a stride. As I learn about you and your body, I'll be able fine-tune the workout to develop a routine that is tailored to your needs and goals.
